This is a big release that have gained long hours of testing and many customer feedback while developing this feature.

We have now pushed the latest and greatest changes under this release.

Apologies if you have experienced a small glitch during the transition. The system is now up and running full speed with covering the following new features and enhancements:

December 20th, 2010Release 3.0.002


New Features:

  • Web Uploader - our new web uploader loads faster, uses native file selection controls, shows upload progress more plainly, looks nicer, and works in more browsers.
  • CSV Import - our new CSV uploader is based on the one used by 37Signals. After uploading a CSV, the system prompts users with column suggestions before importing. We also rewrote the error handling and reporting for CSV imports in order to help photographers get through this more easily.
  • Rmagick upgrade - We have upgraded our version of rmagick, the ruby library that we use for all of our photo processing.
  • Custom background for main landing page - Photographers can now set a background image for their landing page at http://subdomain.snapizzi.com. This is similar to the job-specific homepage feature.
  • Self-printers can now set statuses on their self-print suborders - supported status types are "pending", "submitted", "shipped" and "complete".
  • Add Password re-set to photographer and customer log-ins - when users click on the "forgot password" link, they can have a custom one-time use url generated and emailed to the address they used when they signed up. That URL will give them a one-time login to the site so that they can change their password.
  • Photographers can enter an email address for camera card delivery and also now have a progress bar showing the status of their request - this is the one new progress bar that made the release (more coming out soon)
  • Auto-submit job setting - Order auto-submission is now a per-job setting, so photographers can use different settings for different jobs. The account-level setting still exists and will be used as the default when creating new jobs. Turning this setting on will immediately submit all pending orders for that job.

Other minor fixes and changes:

  • Order CSV export is now in a worker and has more options
  • Add a bunch of new columns to Order CSV download
  • Added school field and job to search results page for a subject, currently it is left blank even if it was uploaded through a CSV
  • Long package names overflow onto buttons, needs to make a new line
  • Remove preview text on camera card previews (it was getting in the way of reading the text beneath)
  • Email interface preview for ID is still now a 9 digit code instead of an 8 digit.
  • Photographer homepage - removed a small line on the left side of some logos that should not be there.
  • Added notes to photographers about shooting RAW
  • Digital download orders should be cancelable now that the zip file is generated on submission instead of creation
  • Translation error fixed in left navigation title (Tabs.Jobs) in search result page.
  • We now sort orders by creation date desc when searching for orders by email on the customer side
  • We no longer show bib number stuff in non-race events (customer-side)
  • JPG and GIF camera cards now say "Picture Code" instead of "IZ tag number"
  • Fixed bug where the customer side would render improperly when viewing pages while logged in as a different photographer
  • http://www.subdomain.snapizzi.com gives the customer stylesheet instead of incorrectly using the photographer stylesheet
  • Fixed broken save link when rotating photos in photo edit overlay
  • We no longer allow two jobs belonging to one photographer to have the same name
  • Added an "Add order" link from the job photos listing
  • Package Builder: Don't allow photographers to create packages or offering lists (price lists) of the same name within a single account.
  • Remove picture code without any pictures selected should throw an error
  • Error messages should now be easier to read in overlays
  • Photographers can now see the email address of customers who have placed orders (added in a bunch of places)
  • Order without shipping address does not complete (cart currency issue)
  • When a customer attempts to purchase photos from multiple subjects in a single order, subject assignment gets broken and incorrect group photos are selected.
  • Digital downloads are now packaged into a zip file only on submission, not when the order is created (this should allow for retouching of digital downloads)
  • Select photo for an order purchasable breaks when a photo is selected after a photo is retouched (new picture uploaded)
