When you're photographing hundreds—or thousands—of subjects, not every image of a subject has the same purpose.
One might be the strongest portrait. Another may be an alternate expression. A third could be a backup image that you want to keep available without necessarily presenting it first.
Snapizzi Stars give you a simple way to carry those image preferences into your high-volume photography workflow.
Using the familiar 1–5 star rating system found in applications such as Adobe Lightroom and Bridge, photographers can rate images before bringing them into Snapizzi. Snapizzi reads those ratings and uses them to determine the order in which a subject's images appear when creating Bundles or Paper Proofing exports.
Snapizzi Stars are image ratings used to control the priority of photos associated with a subject.
They're completely optional.
If you don't use Stars, Snapizzi exports photos in the order they appear in the gallery. If you do use Stars, higher-rated photographs are moved ahead of lower-rated photographs when Snapizzi prepares supported outputs.
That means a five-star image can appear before a four-star image, followed by lower-rated alternatives.
The result is a simple way to influence presentation order without manually rearranging every subject's photographs later in the workflow.
One of the most useful aspects of Snapizzi Stars is that you don't have to create an entirely separate rating workflow inside Snapizzi.
Stars can originate in applications that support standard 1–5 star image ratings, including Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Bridge.
For example, after photographing and processing a school portrait project, you might identify the strongest photograph of each student while reviewing the images in Lightroom.
You could assign:
5 stars to the preferred portrait
4 stars to a strong alternate
3 stars to additional usable images
When those ratings are imported into Snapizzi, they become Snapizzi Stars.
The decisions you already made while reviewing and processing your photographs can therefore continue downstream instead of having to be recreated later.
Stars become particularly useful when creating Snapizzi Bundles.
Bundles organize processed project images into renamed, workflow-ready exports that can be used for labs, schools, gallery platforms, and other high-volume photography workflows.
When a subject has multiple photographs, Stars allow you to control which images receive priority.
Instead of relying entirely on filename or gallery order, your strongest images can automatically move to the front.
For high-volume projects with hundreds of subjects, that small piece of automation can eliminate a substantial amount of repetitive manual organization.
The same concept applies to Paper Proofing.
When multiple photographs of a subject appear on a proof sheet, image order matters. In many workflows, photographers want the strongest or preferred portrait presented first while still giving customers additional poses or expressions to choose from.
Snapizzi Stars provide that ordering information automatically.
Your image ratings can therefore travel from the image-selection stage into the proofing stage without requiring another round of manual sorting.
You don't need to change your workflow just to use Snapizzi.
If image priority isn't important for a particular project, simply don't use Stars. Snapizzi will continue exporting photographs according to their existing gallery order.
But when you do need more control, Stars give you an additional layer of organization without adding a complicated new process.
That's the larger idea behind the feature:
Use information that already exists in your photography workflow to automate what happens next.
A rating you make while reviewing an image can become an instruction Snapizzi uses later when organizing and presenting that photograph.
Choosing which portrait should appear first is easy when you're working with one subject.
Making that same decision repeatedly across hundreds or thousands of subjects is where high-volume photography becomes complicated.
Snapizzi Stars turn those individual image-rating decisions into workflow data that can continue through the project.
Rate the photographs where it makes sense, let Snapizzi carry those ratings forward, and use them to produce more intentionally ordered Bundles and proof sheets.
